Rijit's accidents, injuries and afflictions are heartbreaking. She never had an illness or injury, then it all started to go seriously wrong.

First, she was badly bitten in her face. Blood was pouring out of her wound and she could hardly see, it took two months for the wound to heal. Several months after her face wound Rijit came hobbling towards us clearly asking for help. She was just skin and bones and must have been hiding in great pain. Rijit was holding up her back leg which seemed to be broken and swinging in the air.

Our vet has no x-ray facility. Rijit's temperature was high which is a sure sign of infection. She was panting heavily from pain and flinched as the vet examined her knee joint. His prognosis was that her knee bone was cracked and the joint was dislocated. Rijit had cage rest for several months allowing the bone to heal. 

Then Rijit became an emergency. Her left eye was about to burst. The vet immediately diagnosed glaucoma and measured the pressure in her eyes with a tonometer. Her horribly swollen left eye's pressure was 98 and her right eye which had internal bleeding had a pressure of 18. Normal eye pressure is 25. Rijit was on an intravenous drip for 3 days. She had antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds to lessen the pain. 

After many vet visits and medications, sadly Rijit became blind. Glucoma had destroyed both her eyes. Happily, Rijit remains mobile through her sense of smell, manoeuvring her way around obstacles. Most importantly Rijit is no longer in pain, she's happy and mobile, albeit to a limited extent. 

Rijit would dearly love someone to care for her after so much suffering and pain.
